What is a phobia? A phobia is any constant fear of a specific stimulus as an object or situation.
Some fears become learnt from our parents, relations, older bother and sisters, but most of our phobias have their roots in some childhood situation/drama where the child has suffered some traumatic experience which then led to a deep seated fear or phobia.
An example of this would be a child who became terrified of swimming pools simply because a parent was frightened of them and reacted in a horrified /frightened way.
