The Complementary and Natural Health Care Council (CNHC) was formed in January 2009 and is the only government-backed voluntary regulator for complimentary therapists in theUK. The CNHC’s primary role is to protect the public and it has UK-wide jurisdiction
The council’s register is currently open to qualified* practitioners. In Alexander Technique teaching, aromatherapy, Bowen therapy, healing, hypnotherapy, massage therapies, microsystems acupuncture, naturopathy, nutritional therapy, reflexology, shiatsu, sports and remedial therapy and yoga therapy.
Practitioners on the CNHC register are able to display the CNHC quality mark (below in their practice and in publicity materials such as leaflets and websites. This quality mark as with the FHT logo, is becoming the publics healthcare provision.
Horizon Hypnotherapy is now part of CNHC for hypnotherapy and reflexology.
*Have taken training that meets as a minimum, the National Occupational Standards (NOS/CORE curriculum (CC) for that therapy, or; have achieved competency to the level of the NOS/CC for the therapy concerned by means of relevant experience of at least three years and / or relevant training, and assessed by their peers as having met those standards.
